About me

The posting on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the positions, strategies or opinions of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

My name is Amy Randel and I am currently spending the year in Kiev, Ukraine on behalf of The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s Jewish Service Corp Program (learn more about the Service Corp). This is an exciting opportunity and I look forward to all that I will learn. Through the year I will be sharing about my work and experiences on this blog. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or if you want more info about any of the things I share in my blog. наилучшими пожеланиями!

Amy grew up Portland, Oregon and recently graduated from Portland State University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Judaic Studies. Throughout her education Amy was involved in leadership, advocacy and service opportunity throughout Portland. She served for two years as President of the Portland State Jewish Student Union, and was active in PDX Hillel. Amy was also involved in other student initiatives surrounding her passion for social justice, food and community action.

Amy has worked in various roles including; Intern for a US Congressman in Portland, The International Visitors Program at the Pacific Asian Affairs Council in Honolulu and in the Oregon State Legislature for the 2011 Legislative session. Most recently  she was a resident of Moishe House Portland where she was able to pursue her passion for creating vibrant Jewish community. Amy is also an avid cook and lover of the outdoors.

Amy’s love for travel, connecting with others, advocacy and adventure will serve her well as a Jewish Service Corps Fellow in Kiev, Ukraine, where she will work to enrich Jewish life for young adults by creating innovative programming and working to develop young leaders.
